Lace Effect

Question: We’re planning an outdoor wedding that will start at 6pm, is it possible to wear a lacy gown?

Answer: There are no rules that say you can’t wear lace outdoors, so by all means go for it. Most of the prettiest bridal gowns today feature delicate lace accents (Chantilly and venise are two personal favorites) on bodice, skirts, sleeves or jackets. It lends romance and femininity to any dress and it looks especially beautiful when used on fabrics like silk organza, chiffon or tulle. You’ll be amazed at the wonderful selection available in styles that are just right for an outdoor wedding. So don’t be scared to use a lace gown if that’s what your dress wedding gown is.

Mother in Laws:

At what point do we start to include future mother in laws in the planning of our weddings? Well it is an individual thing but generally speaking, you will have a longer, happier relationship with your future mother in law if you include her from the start. At least ask her to be involved in the planning and you will really score points. As for the really big times that your mother in law might want to share with you one would be the shopping of your wedding gown. Maybe you shop and shop and them let your future mother in law see the final selections with your mother and your future sisters in laws and your sisters and then they will feel as though they are really a part of the event. You may also want your future mother in laws final approval on the reception location. You and your fiance may also want to speak to your future mother and father in law about the church, synagogue or location where the actual ceremony will be help. Remember that family traditions start at the engagement time so don't leave anyone out. and remember have a really fun time at everything that you do.

Who Walks You Down the Aisle:

There is always the tradition of your father walking you down the aisle but what if your father was not around when you were growing up or what if your father has passed. Often times even if your father is alive today the mother and the father walk you down the aisle. If the mother and father were separated or divorced especially that if the case. The mother feels that
she raised you and that she also deserves that prove.

What if your father was never in your life and your step father raised you? Well it is not at all uncommon to have the step father walk you down the aisle. Another option is to have your father and the step father walk you down the aisle. Another option is to have your grandfather walk you down the aisle.

Whatever you do son's forget the most important thing is to have a wonderful
time and a wonderful memory of your big wedding day. Choose the person you are closest to for your big walk down the aisle.

Wedding Checks:

Should you save them or splurge? Whether your cash gifts total $1,000 or $1,000 you'll want to make the most of every dollar. And that doesn't mean blowing it on a new plasma t.v. Here's what SCBC personal finance expert Suzie Orman would do with it.

First take care of your immediate needs. For most newly weds, this will involve some aspect of nesting, like putting down a deposit on a rental apartment. buying basic home appliances or purchasing a bigger bed.

Next work out a way to decrease your monthly expenses. This usually means addressing the debt you have. from acrued credit cards and home loans. Line up your debt payments from the highest to the lowest. Pay off the bills with the highest interest rate first.

Set up an eight month emergency fund. Even two happy newly weds need one. Sock the ,omey in an fdic secured account, so that if one of you looses your job you will be able to pay basic bills.

Start a savings account for your house. The best bet for any young marrieds is to start an emergency account as soon as possilbe. Start your account for the down payment on a home for the two of you. Shop around for an account that will bring you the highest yield.

Fund your retirement account. Invest in a 401 k or put your wedding money into a Roht Ira. That way, the money over time, won't be taxed. After all the best way to start marital life is not being just young and fabulous but solvent too.

Slim down for your Wedding:

The best way to loose wright is to fall in love and get engaged.....at least that is what the experts say. There's nothing like an impending deadline and a form fitting wedding gown to get the weight off and give you the inspiration to diet. Problem is, too many young women try to shed pounds by starving themselves or by trying fad diets. There's a better way...you can actually eat your way thin, By concentration on the right foods, you can reduce your calorie intake while inspiring your body to burn fat only and not muscle. The result is lean wedding day physique that can look as toned and fine on your 5th, 10th or 20th wedding anniversary. Focus on good, not the bad. One of the problems with the traditional diets is that they are all about deprivation. You can't stick to them for very long because they make you feel bad. It's all about can't, can't can't. A smart nutrition plan is about finding more foods that you can and should eat. Eating as many of them as possible each day. Never let yourself get hungry. Two bad things happen when you get hungry. First you start craving fast easy energy and the fastest and easiest comes from junk like cookies, candies and chips. Second, when you're breaking down muscle (not fat) lease to the rebound weight gain is so common with fad diets. Try to eat six times a day three square meals and three smart nutritious snacks. This will keep your body constantly fueled and constantly burning fat.

Quick Fixes for your wedding:

A guest brings a surprise date. Your first impulse may be to throw a fit
but opt for this gracious, low-drama response instead. Ask the catering manager to squeeze uninvited 'plus one" in at your guests table. If that table is too full, move them both to an emptier table. Though frustrating, such drop ins are common and an experienced caterer should have enough food, flexibility and know how to handle them.

The reception is over but nobody's leaving the dance floor. There are two fail safe ways to communicate to your guests that the party is over....Stop the music and stop the booze. If that doesn't work, and you've still got guests who are taking their time chatting and nursing their drinks, ask a groomsman to lead the stragglers to a new venue for an after party party.

Your mind goes blank during the vows. Every couple should give the effiicient a copy of their vows before the ceremony, just in case. Otherwise just improvise from your heart. Talk about what the person means to you or when you met or realized he was the one.

Your ceremony garden is looking sparse: Rent trees or purchase potted plants from a nursery,

And it is you who the people standing on the decks of cruise ships and the balconies of hotel rooms are so envious of, wondering why their own vacations are quite as measuring up. Wedding Budget

Typically the following should be observed when planning your wedding.
Reception 50%, Music 10%, Flowers 10%, Wedding Attire 10%, Photography 10%, Stationary 10%, Additional Expenses 6%. Of course, like any project the additional expenses when planning a wedding budget can go over considerably.

Just try and make a budget and stay as close it to it as possible. I know you start to look at flowers and gowns and reception locations and you start to dream grander dreams but you must stop yourself and remember that this is for one day and you can make your wedding look like a million but not spending a million. The most important thing to do is to have fun in the planning and a great time on your wedding day.

Wedding Entertainment

This subject is one that is so vast it would take days to tell you the possibilities. The basis ones such as the D.J. and or a small or large band are typical. Ever think of the UCLA marching bank or the Bagpipers for a Scottish wedding. Some of these ideas are very pricey but maybe you're a dot.com'er who has lots of do-re-mi. The stripper is always fun for the bachelor party and of course that works both ways, depends on whether you're the bride or the groom. You might want to have a wedding singer or you yourself might want to sing "your" song to your bride. That one is always a realy tear jerker. It is always fun to take dancing classes before the big event so that your first dance can be a tango or a salsa. In any event, you will thrill your guests with your new found talents. At the actual wedding a harpist is very romantic as well as a solo guitarist.....get creative and do what works for your personalities.

Mexico Honeymoon

What could be more romantic than the Carribean for your honeymoon. The air is warm, the water is like a bath tub and the prices are great at this difficult time of recession. For very little money there are Mexican honeymoons that are all inclusive holidays and include your room, food, liquor and entertainment. What a deal! There are liquidators who sell these packages online and they are so reasonable that you could have a weeks honeymoon for $1000 per person or under. Can't beat that and the places are big and glamorous.

Wedding Cakes

Confection perfection depends on a clear vision of your cake design and good
commmunication with your baker. The following terns you need to know in order to make sure you're on the same page when it ccomes to the cake.

Basketweave: A popular pattern for wedding cakes. Most often, white on
white creations that is made using piping techniques interweaving vertical and horizontal lines resembling a basket weave.

Buttercream: Your wedding cake with butter cream is a mix of butter, sugar, and eggs that makes a delicious filling and rich icing. Watch the temperature: If buttercream isn't kept cool, it can melt.

Dotted Swiss: A piped pattern for your wedding cake made with masses of tiny dots resembling dotted swiss fabric.

Fondant: A chewy, sweet sugar dough that's rolled out and wrapped around each tier of your wedding cake. It is an ideal icing for outdoor receptions as fondant does not need to be refrigerated.

Royal Icing: A blend of egg whires and sugar, which forms a thick frosting that can be used for lace and laticework. The royal icing wedding cake should not be refrigerated because, when dry, the texture becomes hard and brittle.

Whipped Cream: This light, delicious filling or frosting is a very delicate style for your wedding cake. use only if you are able to have your cake refrigerated until just before it is served.

Wedding Gowns

The day you become engaged, the first thing you think about is your wedding gown . Will this be a formal wedding, casual or at the beach? The first thing you need to establish is where the event will be held. Once you have that nailed down, then you can shop for your wedding gown. Most of the time your mother and future mother in law will help you shop for your wedding gown. Sometimes your sisters and father may be part of the group as well. When shopping for a wedding gown make sure that you are the one who makes the final decision. Sometimes you can get swayed from the type wedding gown you have in mind and then you have buyers remorse afterwards and think you may have made a mistake in your wedding gown selection. So visit the bridal magazines and all of the online places to view wedding gowns. Once you have a firm idea of what you are looking for, you can easily make your wedding gown selection . Go to a reputable dealer for your wedding gown needs and make certain they have a go seamstress so that your wedding gown will fit you perfectly on your wedding day.

Makeup For Your Wedding Day

Many brides have never worn any make up except perhaps lipstick in their normal everyday life. So when you contemplate the kind of make up for your wedding, don't just have a make up expert come the day of your wedding and put it on you. Have a discussion with your fiancé about how much makeup for your wedding he would like to see you wear. Otherwise he may come walking down the aisle and not even recognize you. If you could get your makeup expert to have your makeup done in advance the way you want to look on your wedding day and have your friends, mother and fiancé voice their opinions about it, you will be much happier with the make up for your wedding.

Wedding Food

Wedding food can have such a wide variety of possibilities that we could literally write a book about wedding food. A small wedding at home will often have the bride and her family planning and cooking the food. Often brides think they save money by cooking themselves but in the scheme of things sometimes that is not the case. Many caterers prepare fancy wedding food that is easily purchased and served as though you had prepared it yourself. If you are having your wedding at a large hotel, the wedding food can have the sky as the limit for fine dinging. Usually your wedding food selection is one of the bride and grooms favorite food and sometimes foods that they ate on their first date. Hotel wedding food can go from a simple hors d'oeuvres selection to an elaborate 7 course meal. Your wedding food selected will certainly be a meal you will never forget.

Wedding Cake

Television shows that specialize in wedding cakes has certaily changed the way we think about a wedding cake. You can take your favorite hobby or maybe a theme on where you met and build your wedding cake around that theme. Any color in frosting is acceptable and the wedding cake can still be traditional depending on what you put inside the cake. Whatever you do, be creative and have epople rave about the wedding cake that you had for your wedding.

Wedding Photography

Wedding photography is, to my thinking the most important element to a wedding . After all you will live with those wedding pictures for a lifetime. So plese make certain that you get a good photographer that is reliable and comes highly reccommended. Don't hesitate asking for references and look at all of the weddings they have done. You can ask for the negatives but usually that will cost you more. Today everything is digital and much more forgiving for the wedding photographer. Plan, Plan, Plan.....for these fabulous wedding photography pictures.

Beach Weddings

What could be more romantic than a beach wedding ? I have been to Mexico and seen many brides getting married with beach wedding and they look lovely. Everyone from the beach becomes your guest and they even cry when the vows are said. When planning a beach wedding make certain you remember that you will probably want to go barefooted so the wedding gown should go along with that theme. Beach Weddings are a simple, informal way to tie the know at a glamorous location on a budget.
