Wedding Gowns, Shoe Selection

Boots are an excellent way to bring your winter wedding look bang up to date, toughening up a pretty look – and again, are practical in the colder weather. However, mother-of-the-brides may feel more elegant and comfortable in the plethora of lady like kitten heels and sling backs which have made a come back this season. They are much daintier and easier to wear than the towering high heels and platforms seen in previous seasons. All must be coordinated with your beautiful wedding gown.

Winter Wedding Dresses

Winter is also an excuse to up-the-anti on sparkle and shimmer, either with sequinned embellishment on your wedding dress or adding dramatic jewellery – don’t worry about up staging the bride because you can get away with more sparkle when the winter nights are getting longer! To carry around your absolute essentials, the bag of choice this season is a cute little box clutch.

Wedding Gowns, Winter Wear

If you do prefer mid-length or calf skimming style wedding dresses then there are plenty of gorgeous lace, patterned tights around to modernize the look and up the glamor stakes. To keep off the winter chill, a pair of long gloves are a good option to accessorize your wedding gown.

Wedding Dresses - Winter Styles

Starting with a cover up – fur was everywhere on the Autumn/Winter 2011 shows, I personally prefer faux as was seen at Chanel but each to their own! A chic fur stole or cover up will add drama, glamour and most importantly warmth to a winter wedding dress look. Next, a longer, floor skimming length wedding gown will again offer warmth and hide thick tights worn underneath! Velvet maxi dresses are very on trend at the moment and look beautiful but there are plenty of other luxe winter fabrics around in rich colours or metallics.

Wedding Dresses - Ideas

Keep the wedding dresses simple, less fluff and tulle, nobody likes hauling around a giant wedding gown all day. I like the looks of the dresses on the website, many look like red carpet dresses that a celebrity might wear so they have some familiarity already when someone sees them and yet they are formal and not overdone.

Wedding Dress Over Bustle

The over bustle is a simple button added to the back of the wedding dress lifts the train and drapes it across the back of the dress. The one-point over bustle has just one button or point on the back of the wedding gown and shouldn’t be used with heavier dresses or longer trains, which may break the bustle. The three-point over bustle has multiple connections that keep the train open across the back of the dress. This option is stronger than the one-point over bustle.

Wedding Dresses and Your Family Heirloom

Your bridal bouquet is the perfect place to incorporate a family heirloom or pay homage to those close to you who have passed. It will certainly mean a lot to carry with you a memory of someone you love as you walk down the aisle. If your mother or grandmother was pushing for you to wear their wedding dress but you aren't feeling the vintage look, ask if you can snip a piece of the lace and wrap it around your bouquet instead. Have your grandfather's favorite handkerchief? Your florist can weave that into your bouquet wrap, too. My personal favorite tribute has to be a locket, delicately draped around the flowers stems, that holds an image of a loved one you want to honor.

Inexpensive Wedding Gown Styles

The good news for a soon-to-be-bride like you is that cheap are usually the simple wedding dresses you find on numerous websites and catalogues. Too many details on wedding gowns such as intricate embroideries and additional bead-works would only overdo the design of brides dresses. It is disappointing to note that brides dresses that are overly done could potentially spell disaster when done poorly. Going simple is really the way to go for elegant brides.

Spring Wedding Gowns

Another trend for weddings in spring this year is choosing different wedding dresses in the same color group for the bridesmaid. This is great if your bridesmaids are of different age groups or body types; then you can choose various styles of dresses for them in deeper or lighter shades of the same color to complement each of them.

Spring Wedding Dresses

Flowers and spring are unanimous; you can’t think of one without the other. So it is no wonder that spring wedding will reflect this element. Keeping with the trends, wedding dresses this year are high on floral embellishment for the bride as well as bridesmaid, and even the dresses of close relatives like the mother of the bride or groom. So if you are planning to wear a sheath wedding gown to the wedding of your cousin or a ball gown, add color to it by including embroidered 3D-bud and blossoms. If you love the vintage look of 40s and 50s, you can choose to wear a pretty A-line dress with floral add-ons near the waistline and bodice. This is perfect especially if the wedding is being held on the afternoon or morning or if the wedding is being held in a park or some open-air area.

Wedding Gowns - Pink

I may have to dub this Pink Week. Pink and pastel pinks always inspired me. I'm looking at the range of it from the mauvey satin ribbon to the rose beige pearls and it gives me such a buzz to create these types of wedding dresses and wedding gowns.

Time Honored Wedding Dresses

Lace as we know it evokes images of woven florals and scalloped edges on flounced skirts and collars. Though these time-honored looks will always be with us, lately we’re seeing new spins on the use of lace in bridal wear. Not only are the traditionals like Alencon and Chantilly now used in cutting edge ways, new inventions in knit and revivals in cotton and crocheted laces are showing up. Some of it is being used discreetly on no more than a sleeve or yoke of a wedding dress, while the high drama of donning all over lace from collar to hemline is chic as well.

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

Wedding Dress Styles

I've always loved square necklines which you don't see a whole lot of in bridal these days. Like the scoop neckline, a square will show off a beautiful decolletage. I accented the shoulders with white organza bows and small hydrangeas.

Wedding Dress - Designing

Designing wedding dresses can be a lot like writing a story. The elements of that design are screaming to be created and won't let you rest till you sew the last button on and stitch the last of the hem. The finished dress needs to have character and be just a little different. In this case, everything about the Madelyn Dress is different. I saw it in my head with a rosy-beige lining underneath all those layers of tulle so I knew the tulle had to be tea-dyed to correspond. The bodice is adorned in cutout lace motifs with shirred and pleated tulle over it. The hook and eye fasteners down the back replace the traditional button closure to give it that vintage look with a contemporary twist.

Wedding Dress Ruffles

Lately I've seen so many skirts, tops and even accessories layered in ruffles. There are so many different kinds of ruffles, the most popular now can be anything ruched to intricately gathered skirts rolled into florals. As you've probably figured out ruffles can be worn head to toe on bodice, sleeve, skirt or train. And don't forget those finishing touches like shoes, purses, gloves, hats and veils layered in ruffles. Below are just a few treatments celebrating variations on the wedding gown or wedding dress ruffle theme.

Wedding Gowns with Lace

Whether you go for lace inserts or a complete covering in lace, lace embellished wedding dresses are hot right now. This is a favorite look of mine for sentimental reasons – both my mother and my sister got married in wedding gowns with a lace overlay and long lace sleeves. Lace is definitely elegant for a wedding gown.

Wedding Gown Weight Loss

If you’re blessed with a fast metabolism or the determination and will to spend hours in the gym, these wedding gowns will probably look amazing on you – made from soft, slinky, flowing fabrics, they are super-sexy. Meanwhile, I would probably most resemble a giant lump.

Wedding Dress Sleeve Styles

Non-sleeveless wedding gowns are currently having their moment in the sun – around ten years ago, any non-sleeveless wedding dress designs looked distinctly lonely amongst the plethora of sleeveless wedding gowns, and any bride with untoned arms had to suck it up. But sleeves and straps are back with a vengeance, so if you want the variety that different styles of sleeves & straps provide, or don’t want the pain of endless push-ups, rejoice!

Wedding Dresses - Wow Factor

Back in the late 80′s (as a teenager), my fantasy wedding dress featured a large bow just above my butt (amongst other things I hastily add), and there are many bow adorned dresses around to satisfy my teenage desires (though actually not so much on one’s rear…). Definitely stylish, definitely adds wow factor

Make Your Wedding Dress Something Very Special

Flower detailing is everywhere at the moment, and there really is nothing more pretty or more feminine, whether you go for a skirt smothered in foliage, or just for some small detailing. Flowers always add a unique design on the wedding dress.

Wedding Dress Seam Styles

Asymmetrical seams have been around and hugely popular for a couple of years, and there’s still plenty more of that style to come – mostly because it’s highly flattering to many brides and their fabulous wedding dresses and wedding gowns.

1950's Wedding Dress Styles

Yep, the 1950s style influences are still in vogue – hour-glass brides all together now - “Hooray!” 1950s chic is appearing in many designers’ wedding dress collections, so hour-glass girls are spoilt for choice. And that makes me happy.

Ruffles for your Wedding Gown

Ruffles are something brides tend to love or hate – they’re slightly over-the-top, definitely unminimilistic and tend to swing between either being a hot trend or likened to a toilet-roll doll (remember those?). There are some stunning ruffled wedding gowns out there, and for the bride who wants to create impact, ruffles may be well worth a look.

Special Wedding Dress Styles

The Mermaid style, also known as the fit and flare or trumpet, is becoming more and more popular in the wedding dress circle. However, this silhouette can be difficult for some brides to pull off. It has a body-hugging shape silhouette with skirt that flares out either at the knee or just below it. Do not attempt this look if you have a wider hip or waist, the wedding gown will not fit properly.

Monday, June 27, 2011

Wedding Dresses, Empire Style

The Empire style wedding dress flatters most all body types. It is especially popular for brides who want to camouflage the tummy area and bring attention to the chest and shoulders. The high, raised waist creates a long line, ideal for the petite or taller bride. The skirt may be slightly flowing, straight, or as wide as an A-line.

Monday, June 20, 2011

Wedding Dresses - Sheath Style Wedding Gown

The Sheath style is for the bride who isn’t afraid to show off her body! This body-hugging silhouette is sculpted very close the body, and can be quite exquisite given the right wedding gown fit. Avoid this style if you are uncomfortable with the size of your hips.

Thursday, June 16, 2011

Ball Gown Wedding Dresses

The Ball Gown wedding dress is the most dramatic of all bridal silhouettes. It features a small waist (dropped or natural) and a very full skirt with petticoat. Most flattering to women of at least average height with hourglass or full figures—as it will hide a larger bottom and emphasize your waist and shoulders. This Ball wedding dress skirt is not recommended for the petite bride, as it would be overwhelming.

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

A Line Wedding Gowns, Wedding Dresses

The A-line wedding dress or wedding gown literally comes from the letter “A” and its shape—a narrow bodice and outer edges of a wide sleek skirt. Available in a variety of fabrics, the A-line/Princess cut may or may not have a seam at the waist, which may be higher or lower than the natural waistline. Most body types, including petites and full figures will find this silhouette flattering.

Trends For Wedding Dresses and Wedding Gowns

This year color trends will be from every end of the color spectrum. Because vintage is in, we will start to see more vintage, earthy and sun-washed colors; on the other hand, brides are still favoring the bright colors paired with black. Brides are taking chances by using anti-traditional wedding colors and combining black and fuchsia, coral, deep red, violet purple, emerald green, Clementine orange, and canaries yellow. Another new trend we will start to see is shades of gray. Brides are using gray as the new brown and matching it up with pastel colors such as pink and blue or hues or green and navy for their wedding gowns and wedding dresses.

Wedding Dress, Wedding Gown Trends

This year we will see a lot of new trends that were popular in the 1920s, 30s and 40s. Due to hard economic times, these new trends will not only help brides save money, but also bring out the couple’s personality and love towards each other. Weddings are beginning to take a step back into time when a wedding was to declare two people’s love for one another, not to have a huge extravagant party. Simple and creative is in, so it will be exciting to see what 2011 weddings will bring o the table, beautiful wedding dresses and wedding gowns.

Most importantly, stay true to your unique personality! For example, if you are having a simple garden wedding, go for the Romantic Bride look. Wedding Dresses with Pockets

One our favorite trends of the past three years are wedding dresses with pockets! Seems like this has been a bit of a controversial topic–brides either love it or hate it… but have no doubt, pockets are here to stay.Wedding dresses with pockets can be on just about any style gown, including short gowns and sheath. However, the ball gowns with pockets are just magnificent. Why pockets on a wedding dress? Pockets make the dress hip and chic. Different poses can be done for the wedding photos–a hand in one pocket, a bouquet in the other–how great? When the pockets are not being used, they are not visible, so no worries about taking any of the elegance away from the dress. Pockets are also a great way to staff a tiny mirror for make-up checks, tissues for those tearful moments, or whatever tiny tidbit you feel is needed! No need for a bridal purse with these gowns!

Green Wedding Gowns

As the fabrics have evolved to compare and actually surpass traditional bridal fabrics for wedding gowns, we have dedicated ourselves to being innovators in the Green bridal movement. We believe that a wedding is a very sacred ceremony. By choosing to wear a natural fiber on this special day, a woman is honoring not only the sacredness of her commitment to her partner, but also the very sacred connection that we all share.

Choosing Your Wedding Dress Shoes

Don’t stress about finding your bridal shoes. It is a fairly easy process if you go in prepared. Below are some tips tips to help you out! Think about what type of formal shoes you like to wear in everyday life… and then spruce them up from there. Consider buying two pairs–one for the ceremony and one for the reception. This way, you can show off your shoes in pictures, but still be comfortable the rest of the evening. Get creative with color. Don’t try to match your shoes to your wedding dress exactly. Consider silver, gold, red, or even blue. This year the pop of color at the feet is huge! Plus, if you choose a blue, you have the “something blue” covered… double duty! Another trend is to add a brooch to each shoe for bling. Go to all types of shoe stores. A bridal wedding dress shoe does not have to be purchased in a bridal store. Plus, you may save a lot of money shopping at a department store!
